New York Vacation: September 2014

Thursday, September 11 - Cooperstown

Again, based on the weather forecast, we chose this day to take the 2.5 hour drive to Cooperstown, home of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. On the way out of town, we stopped at Gimme Coffee and then headed out to Cooperstown. And the weather cooperated just perfectly. It rained the entire way from Ithaca to Cooperstown, coming down really hard in places, but stopped raining just as we got there right at noon.

While this was mostly a trip for Neil, we both had a good time looking at all the paraphernalia and statistics and such in the museum. After finishing up in the museum, we re-parked (there is a two-hour parking limit along the streets) and then took some time to walk up and down Main Street. In honor of the baseball theme, we even had hot dogs and fries for lunch.

We also visited the post office to mail home several items of clothing as we bought an astonishingly large amount of souvenirs on this trip compared to journeys past. We decided it would be worth a few bucks to mail some stuff home to make room in our bags for the trip home so we wouldn't have to check anything.

We drove back to Ithaca a different scenic way than the way we got to Cooperstown. Evening coffee was at Ithaca Coffee Company, and then we walked around The Commons again, re-visiting a t-shirt shop and getting a couple souvenir shirts from there.
