October in the Park

Jefferson Park was near our apartment when we lived in Irving, before we got our house. We would go there to take walks outside in the great Texas weather.

A couple days in eary October 2003, we went to feed the ducks, and the nutria if we saw any. Yes, they're called nutria. They're 10 pounds or so each with beaver like bodies and teeth, and skinny, mouselike tails. We were very surprised how tame they are--you can get within about 3 feet of some of them. There were even a couple of babies that are guinea pig size. Don't worry about us getting too close, folks. They're vegetarians.
