Volunteering with Dallas Animal Services
We heard about a volunteer opportunity with the Dallas Animal Services in the Quick, a local D/FW paper, and decided to join in. We volunteered at the 5th Annual Dallas Home and Garden show at the Dallas Convention Center on January 15. Our job was to help bring the dogs in from the van, take them outside when needed, and help people get information about and adopt the dogs. A great number of dogs got adopted over the course of the show. We had lots of people traffic being on a corner of two of the aisles which was great exposure for the dogs. There were tiny puppies and older large dogs as well. It was really exciting to see so many get adopted! We were told 12 got adopted on Saturday, and about 10 on Sunday when we were there.
There have been other opportunities to help, too. We volunteered at the nbc5i healthFit Expo in late January. Closer to home, there was the Fort Worth Home and Garden Show in downtown Fort Worth on February 12.
On Easter in 2007, we volunteered to help more doggies get adopted at the Easter in the Park Pooch Parade, sponsored by the Turtle Creek Association in Dallas.
