Out With the Old... October 1, 2003

Neil’s Acura Integra was broken in to in the early morning on October 1, 2003. Apparently the people trying to steal the car wanted it for parts for racing. Yeah, racing parts out of a 12-year-old car with 196,000 miles on it. According to witnesses, the perpetrators (no, I'm not going to be politically correct and call them "suspects") smashed in the driver's side window around 1:30 am and then scattered. Apparently after waiting till the coast was clear, they returned around 3:00 am to break apart the steering column to hot-wire the car. One would-be thief was caught red handed thanks to some night owl neighbors and a quick response from the Irving Police.

Actually, Ginger was never too fond of the Integra (12 years old, black leather interior that doesn't do too well in the blazing Texas sun, less-than-perfect A/C, hail-dented body panels, and needing numerous repairs over the past couple years). So we had decided that if the car needed any more major repairs, we'd offload it and get another one. After praying about the situation and talking it over, we opted to purchase a new car. Well, a "new to us" car that is. We were led to a beautifully maintained 1998 Nissan Maxima. We love it! The Lord really took care of us by carrying us from a difficult situation to a great solution!
